Wishaw Sports Centre has recently benefited from a major financial investment by North Lanarkshire Council and North Lanarkshire Leisure which has hugely improved the customer changing area facilities.
More than £150,000 has been spent in refurbishing the changing facilities including, the shower and toilet areas, the creation of an overspill area and the replacement of the locker facilities at the sports centre.
The investment in the changing areas is part of a continuing programme by North Lanarkshire Leisure to improve the customer experience at leisure centres throughout North Lanarkshire.
The lockers at the leisure centre are of the same type and fitted by the same company as those used by the English Premiership stars Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba at Chelsea Football Club's multi-million pound training complex at Cobham in Surrey.
Councillor Jim Logue, Chair of North Lanarkshire Leisure, said: "I am sure that customers using the new changing and locker facilities will agree that the money invested has made a significant improvement to the sports centre.
"The main priority for North Lanarkshire Leisure is to provide the most enjoyable experience possible for members and visitors to our leisure facilities and we will continue to invest and improve in all areas that will enhance the customer's experience."
Graeme Morrison, Facilities Manager at Wishaw Sports Centre, said: "At Wishaw Sports Centre we cater for over 600,000 users each year and our focus is always on raising the standards and quality for our users.
"The decision to choose this type of changing facilities was taken after viewing the amenities on offer at other top leisure facilities including the Gleneagles Hotel and we now have changing facilities to rival the very best on offer."
The new high quality locker facilities within the dry changing areas provide additional height and utility space in comparison to conventional locker systems. The lockers come in three different types and in addition to offering more space will provide flexible storage for both clothes and sports bags.
Additionally smaller "stow and go" locker units are also available for valuable items such as wallets, jewellery and mobile phones. Other lockers have been specifically designed for disabled access users and the overall range will provide flexibility and choice for users in a modern changing area environment.
Linda Duncan, an Access NL member from Wishaw, added: "The new changing areas are fabulous and would definitely encourage me to use the leisure centre on a more regular basis."
