McTavish Ramsay, the architectural door specialist, has begun delivery of 400 bespoke door sets for the West Lothian Civic Centre, being built in Livingston's town centre.
McTavish Ramsay has made all of the veneered door sets on a bespoke basis. In total the contract is worth over £150k and is scheduled to complete in February.
Gordon Urquhart, sales manager at McTavish Ramsay, commented: "This project has required us to work closely with the contractor and design, manufacture and deliver bespoke doorframes. It is exactly this level of expertise that we have developed over the years and that sets us apart in the market."
The £53m project aims to develop a new sheriff court, procurator fiscal's office, police station and office accommodation for around 600 council staff at Almondvale Valley in Livingston.
Over a 25-year period the cost of maintenance, repairs and upgrading for the council's three main buildings - West Lothian House at Livingston, Lindsay House at Bathgate and County Buildings at Linlithgow - is estimated at £16m. This compares with costs of £8m that are projected for the new centre.
The contractor for the project is Avonhill and work is due to be finished by the summer of 2009.
Based in Dundee, McTavish Ramsay has been in business since 1864 and is recognised as one of the UK's leading door specialists. Over and above the work it does in the public sector, the firm also has contracts in the commercial, education, healthcare and residential sectors.
