Stirling Council invited Cabinet Secretary for Education, Fiona Hyslop MSP and former pupil, Scotland and Celtic player, Gary Caldwell to officially open Wallace High School on Friday 14 November.
The special guests were piped into the school and treated to a tour of the new school's facilities including the ASN area that contains special sensory rooms. Fiona Hyslop MSP unveiled a plaque to commerate the official opening of Wallace High School. Former pupils Professional Footballer, Gary Caldwell and Stirling Observer Deputy Editor, Donald Morton both made speeches in the school theatre.
The new school designed for 1,200 pupils stands in the shadow of the Wallace Monument is one of the new high schools constructed by Stirling Gateway Ltd on behalf of Stirling Council as part of the council's current £100m schools rebuilding and refurbishment programme.
Head teacher Linda Horsburgh said: "At Wallace High School we promote wide achievement through the four capacities of a curriculum for excellence and we are delighted to be in our new building because the excellent facilities are a support and a boost to achievement. Our new building has light, bright teaching areas and wonderful sports facilities, which support both the formal and informal curriculum’s."
Councillor Graham Lambie, executive member with portfolio for children and lifelong learning met staff and pupils at the school added: "Headteacher Mrs Horsburgh, staff and pupils are delighted with the teaching and learning facilities at the exciting new Wallace High School.
"I know the pupils will look forward to features such as the fully sound proofed games hall, dance studio, science laboratories, music rooms, and the learning resource centre."

At the heart of the new school is a glass-fronted atrium where pupils, staff and visitors can meet and socialise. The classrooms are well equipped and have the latest in information and communications technology.
