Fresh plans from Cala Homes to refurbish a graceful Banchory landmark building go on show to the public this week.
CALA Homes proposes redeveloping the town's Tor-na-Coille Hotel to create nine luxurious apartments within the current building and a further 33 apartments in two new wings.
The plans, by CALA Management Ltd, were originally submitted to Aberdeenshire Council last December and now, following discussions with planners and feedback from the local community, the housebuilder has submitted an amended application, taking these views into consideration.
The proposal is backed by a design statement and supporting statement explaining the background and outlining all the details of the project. These, along with all the plans, drawings, reports submitted to the council and illustrations of the proposed development, will be on display at the hotel on August 6.
CALA is inviting members of the public to view the exhibition and talk through the proposal with representatives of the housebuilder who will be on hand to listen to comments and answer any questions.
CALA Homes Land Manager, David Hodgson said: "We would like to give the community the opportunity to see our proposal first hand. This is a landmark building and, although the present hotel is not a Listed Building, it is a graceful, typical Victorian-style country house.
"We recognise that, as such, it is an important gateway to Upper Deeside which is why the original building is to be retained as a central feature of the development and will be refurbished to a high quality specification."
