A waste awareness team will be out and about in Aberdeen this summer at a number of events promoting ways to reduce, reuse and recycle.
The city council's team will be giving away reusable recycling sacks, as well as providing information on how many items of household waste can be reused.
For example old clothes, books, CDs and bric-a-brac in good condition can be donated to local charity shops.
Items like broken furniture, scrap metals and old paints can be taken to recycling centres, along with rubble from the garden.
Linda Jordinson, waste aware marketing officer, commented: "Summer is a great time to tidy the home and garden. Many items in good condition can be donated to charity shops. Items that can not be reused can be recycled at points throughout the city.
“As the weather gets warmer, it is the prefect time to start composting at home. Grass clippings, hedge prunings, dead leaves and flowers can all be put into a home composting unit, with green cone waste digesters composting all kinds of kitchen waste."
At the events there will also be an opportunity for Aberdeen residents to buy a cut-price green cone to help with recycling this summer. The green cone food digesters can be ordered from the team at a cost of £10, including delivery.
