Details of a small grants scheme that will help with the cost of building repairs are to be distributed to property owners through the City of Brechin Township Heritage initiative (THI).
Leaflets will be posted to local property owners detailing the repair grants, which will be made available for those eligible for repair grants under a scheme to regenerate the old part of the town - High Street and Swan Street.
The grants are available through the townscape heritage initiative and conservation area regeneration scheme, jointly funded by Angus Council, the Heritage Lottery Fund and Historic Scotland (Historic Environment Regeneration Fund).
Building repairs and architectural reinstatement will potentially qualify for grants, subject to certain conditions. The buildings must be of traditional construction and will be required to be repaired using traditional materials. All grants will be subject to the availability of money from the fund.
Bob Myles, Chairman of Brechin THI, said: "It is important that everyone who can apply for grant funding from the THI is made aware of the scheme. We hope that those people who as yet have not been aware of the scheme will be through the leaflet scheme.
"We will first target properties at the north end of the High Street and Swan Street as these buildings are in the heart of the city centre and their appearances making a lasting impression on visitors and local residents alike."
Potential applicants should contact the Project Manager, Sarah Kettles, at the Brechin THI office at 32 Panmure Street tel: 01356 623488 to discuss eligibility, seek advice or book an appointment before submitting applications. Further information and application forms for grants are available from the Angus Council website at: www.angus.gov.uk/brechinthi. Application forms can also be picked up from the THI office.
