East Ayrshire Provost Stephanie Young visited Balmoral Knitwear recently to formally re-open the Balmoral Mill & Coffee Shop car park.
As part of the Flood Prevention Scheme for Galston, which was recently completed by the Council the banks of the River Irvine and its tributary the Burnawn, which sits adjacent to the Mill shop car park have been reinforced. After the completion of this important flood prevention work, a new improved re-surfaced Mill car park is now open.
Speaking about the re-opening the Provost said: "I am delighted to formally re-open the Mill car park and I thank the staff and customers for their patience during this time of work, which was carried out by the Council to protect residential and business communities in the Irvine Valley area. The Council appreciates the need for re-generation in Galston and hopes that the work carried out and the new re-surfaced car park will encourage more people to visit Balmoral Mill shop and other retail establishments in the area."
Julie Mackie from Balmoral knitwear added: "The Mill Shop is celebrating its return to normal with a large factory clearance sale with items on sale for as little as £1. A new extension to the shop is also underway, along with some exciting new clothes ranges in stock."
