SEPA has welcomed the publication of the Scottish Parliament's Rural Affairs and Environment Committee report on flooding in Scotland.
The agency contributed to the Committee's enquiry in a number of ways, including via written submissions and giving evidence at meetings. SEPA also hosted visits by Committee members to its offices in Perth and East Kilbride to see SEPA's flood maps and flood warning systems in operation.
Dr Chris Spray, SEPA's Director of Environmental Science, said: "I look forward to reading the Committee report with great interest. Flooding is a major issue in Scotland, and the impacts of climate change mean the problems will continue to grow. We need to find more sustainable ways of tackling flooding and I am sure the Committee’s recommendations will be a very valuable contribution to the way forward.
"My experience of working with the Committee was that they were taking a very thorough and informed approach to the many challenges facing Scotland, now and in the future. We will be studying the findings in detail and stand ready to work with Government to deliver sustainable flood management for Scotland."
