Aberdeenshire-based KR Group Scotland is celebrating success at the 2026 Trades Awards after Business Director Nicola Fraser was named the inaugural winner of the Inspiring Women in Construction award.

Now in its 14th year, the Trades Awards, organised by marketing agency Mearns & Gill, recognise the people and businesses making a difference to the construction industry across the North of Scotland.

Launched for the first time this year, the Inspiring Women in Construction category drew more nominations than any other, underlining the depth of talent and contributions from women working across the sector.

The award highlights women who demonstrate commitment and achievement in construction, create a positive impact in their workplace, show leadership and initiative, and inspire others by helping to open up opportunities for women across the industry. Fraser's recognition reflects these qualities and her influence within KR Group and beyond.

Nicola Fraser, Business Director, KR Group, comments: "Winning this award means a great deal to me, especially knowing that my team nominated me. That's probably the part that means the most.

"Kenny and I have spent more than 20 years building KR Group with some brilliant people. You're usually so busy getting on with the next thing that you don't often stop to recognise how far you've come.

"I'm really pleased to see this category introduced and the response it's had. There are so many women doing great work across construction, in all sorts of roles, and their contribution deserves to be seen.

"Being described as 'inspiring' takes a little getting used to! But if this encourages another woman to back herself, take an opportunity or consider a career in construction, that's something I'd be very proud of."
