Essential repairs to the retaining wall next to Carnock Bridge on the A907 are scheduled to start on Monday 27 July, with the programme expected to last around four weeks.
Fife Council's Roads and Transportation Services has appointed QTS Group Ltd. to deliver the works, designed to improve the structure's long-term stability. The scheme includes installing wall anchors, removing the upper section of the existing retaining wall, and regrading the adjacent slope.
The wall supports a footpath used by local residents, including those heading to the nearby school, and needs maintenance to ensure it remains safe for future use.
To carry out the works safely, the current lane closure at Carnock Bridge will be extended on both approaches for the duration of the project. Traffic management will remain in place throughout, and a clearly signed pedestrian diversion will be provided to maintain access while protecting public safety.
Michael Anderson, service manager for structural services at Fife Council said: "These repairs are important to ensure the retaining wall remains safe and stable for years to come. We appreciate that work will cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to allow the work to be carried out safely and efficiently. We're sorry for the disruption.
"We would like to thank local residents, businesses and road users for their patience and co-operation while these essential repairs are completed."
