Scottish construction company The JR Group has hosted representatives from the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity for a talk on mental health and wellbeing at its site at The Albion, Ibrox.
The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity, known as the Lighthouse Club, offers emotional, physical and financial wellbeing support to construction workers and their families.
Two members of the charity's Make It Visible team visited the Glasgow site to speak to around 50 staff and subcontractors, encouraging more open conversations about mental health and sharing practical steps to support positive wellbeing.
Following the session, Health and Safety Manager Jim Smith and site managers across The JR Group introduced Toolbox Talks at all active sites, engaging teams, suppliers and subcontractors on the issue.
The initiative also aligned with the charity's first ever Wear Purple Week, held from 15 to 19 June. Colleagues across The JR Group's sites wore purple hi-vis vests and clothing to raise awareness and funds for the cause.
The week concluded with a Lighthouse Charity coffee morning at the company's Paisley headquarters.
Staff were invited to enjoy hot drinks and cakes while discussing mental health and the services provided by the Lighthouse Charity. The event was attended by the charity's Lead Partnership Manager, Nicola Campbell.
Following the packed week, Jim Smith said: "It's vital that workers within the construction industry don't feel pressured to remain silent about issues regarding their own mental health or the wellbeing of a colleague.
"At The JR Group, we're proud to encourage a supportive community for everyone working out on our sites and in our office, and we're grateful to the Lighthouse Charity for providing its expert support in helping us create a positive environment with wellbeing at its core."
