Dogger Bank D has launched a further engagement phase to update communities and stakeholders on the project's proposed Onshore Converter Station and to gather views on early-stage design concepts.
The consultation will run from Tuesday 23 June 2026 to Monday 3 August 2026. In early July, the project team will host two in-person sessions in Beverley, East Yorkshire, alongside an online webinar.
Dogger Bank D is a proposed fourth phase of the Dogger Bank Wind Farm, the world's largest offshore wind project, with the existing 3.6GW scheme currently under construction in the North Sea off the coast of England. A further phase could unlock up to an additional 1.5GW of renewable capacity for Britain's energy system.
The project, being developed by 50:50 joint venture partners SSE and Equinor, would be located more than 210km off the Yorkshire coast and comprise up to 113 fixed-bottom turbines and an offshore substation platform within a 262km² seabed area. Associated export and inter-array subsea cables are proposed to connect with onshore infrastructure in the East Riding of Yorkshire to transmit electricity to the national grid.
In April 2026, a preferred zone to the south of Beverley was identified for the Onshore Converter Station, chosen for its suitability for safe construction and operation while seeking to minimise environmental impacts and disruption to residents. The zone links to a cable corridor previously described as E1, or the northern corridor. Ground investigation works and trial trenching at the preferred area have taken place in recent months and are now complete.
The consultation explains how the Onshore Converter Station location has been selected and refined, and invites comments on the emerging design approach. All documents will be available online from Tuesday 23 June at www.doggerbankd.com/ocs-consultation.
Materials outline the key considerations for the Onshore Converter Station, including technical and environmental assessments, coexistence with existing and potential future development, safety, landscape factors, and opportunities for planting and screening.
Feedback is also sought on early design concepts such as roof forms, materials, colour palettes, landscape planting and potential ways the project could contribute to the local area.
Sophie Large, Senior Project Manager for Dogger Bank D, said: "During our statutory consultation phase in 2025, individuals and stakeholders told Dogger Bank D that they wanted more detail on the development of the Onshore Converter Station. This consultation outlines our progress to date and shares more detail about the Project's commitment to design development. The team are looking forward to welcoming the public to our consultation events and continuing the valuable conversations that inform and shape our proposals ahead of our planned Development Consent Order application in June 2027."
The delivery of Dogger Bank D is subject to the project securing a Development Consent Order as well as a final investment decision by joint venture partners SSE Renewables and Equinor.
