Acting on the instructions of the King's and Lord Treasurer's Remembrancer, Shepherd Commercial Property Auctions will oversee the sale of Scotland's first and oldest licensed whisky distillery site. The plot is being marketed as a roadside development opportunity and will go under the hammer during an online auction on Thursday 18 June at 2.30pm, carrying a guide price of £110,000.
The location was formerly home to the Littlemill distillery, a lowland single malt Scotch whisky distillery situated in Bowling, West Dunbartonshire. Located 11 miles west of Glasgow, Bowling features excellent transport connections, with the nearby Great Western Road linking the area to the M8, the west coast, and Glasgow city centre. Additionally, Bowling train station is situated within a short walking distance of the plot, offering regular services to the west coast and Glasgow Queen Street.
The vicinity is predominantly residential, though nearby commercial operations include the Custom House Hotel, The Bay Inn, and the 5-Star AJ Mar Hall Golf Course & Spa Resort.
Adam Honeyman, partner at Shepherd, said: "The 1.2-acre site comprises a rectangular plot of land with frontage onto Dumbarton Road consisting mainly of rough ground with sparse tree coverage.
"The north side of the site borders a public cycle/hiking path before coming to Great Western Road. Residential properties surround the site on the east and west sides."
The derelict structures situated in the south-east corner of the plot currently hold a Category B listing. Under the West Dunbartonshire Local Development Plan, the site is zoned as an existing residential area.
The remote auction is scheduled for Thursday 18th June at 2.30pm. Bidders and interested parties are required to register in advance at: www.shepherd.co.uk/auctions-remote-bidding/.
