ScottishPower Renewables has released initial designs for a new £8 million operations and maintenance base for its East Anglia THREE offshore wind farm at Lowestoft's PowerPark.
The purpose-built 5,000m² facility is proposed for Trinity Road on the former RJ Pryce site, which the company acquired in September 2024. The scheme is subject to a planning decision by East Suffolk Council following submission of an application.
Designs indicate a three-storey building with an appearance aligned to the firm's existing East Anglia ONE operations and maintenance base.
That EA ONE base, situated nearby on land owned by Associated British Ports at Lowestoft port, opened in 2019 and will continue operating under its current 30-year lease.
The Trinity Road site will be wholly owned by ScottishPower Renewables and is expected to accommodate around 100 people, creating additional employment in Lowestoft and the surrounding area.
Matt Wooltorton, Project Construction Manager with ScottishPower Renewables, said: "It's really exciting to see the new building brought to life in these initial designs. As our East Anglia THREE windfarm starts to take shape in the southern North Sea, I look forward to seeing the same for our onshore base as we continue to work towards a cleaner and greener future for Lowestoft and the wider East Anglia region."
Steve Hodger, ScottishPower Renewables Head of Offshore Operations and Maintenance, added: "This project will increase our footprint and investment within Lowestoft's PowerPark and support the Council's vision for the town as a powerhouse for the clean energy industry in the region for years to come."
