Dundee Retains Top CDP A Rating For Climate Action For Fourth Year

Dundee has been acknowledged for the fourth consecutive year for its approach to environmental leadership and openness.

Global charity CDP has released its latest rankings, awarding Dundee City Council its highest possible 'A rating' for 2025.

CDP, a not-for-profit body, runs an independent environmental disclosure platform used by more than 1,000 cities, states and regions to report climate data.

By granting Dundee an 'A rating', CDP highlights the city's comprehensive reporting, strong environmental governance and tangible advances towards climate resilience.

Climate, Net Zero & Environment Convener Cllr Heather Anderson said: "Dundee has rightfully been recognised again as a leader on environmental action and received the highest possible rating from the independent charity CDP for our best practice and transparency.

"This is testament to the varied and positive work being carried out in our city. We take the work that needs to be done on the environment seriously as the scale of the challenge facing us all is considerable with no single organisation or solution capable of addressing every sustainable challenge.

"The Dundee Climate Leadership Group is also leading the way in supporting city-wide efforts to bring the public, private and community organisations together to utilise the expertise we have here to reduce carbon emissions and meet our overall city objectives."

Chief Executive Officer of CDP Sherry Madera said: "Cities play a decisive role in shaping a resilient and earth-positive future.

"When local governments commit to transparent disclosure, robust climate planning and clear adaptation strategies, they not only protect their communities but also unlock opportunities for innovation and sustainable growth.

"Their leadership shows how data-driven climate action can strengthen both people and the planet."
