The refurbishment of the Artizan Centre in Dumbarton has moved to the next stage of work following the appointment of main contractor Clark Contracts by West Dunbartonshire Council. The firm secured the contract following a successful tendering process.
The project is focused on significantly improving the appearance and feel of the retail units at the heart of Dumbarton. The scope of work includes:
• Removal and replacement of existing canopies above the shops with new, upgraded shelters.
• Refurbishment of the cladding.
• Installation of replacement shopfronts featuring a uniform design.
• Cleaning and repainting of the building facades.
The project is part of a broader investment package provided through the UK Government for three key regeneration projects in the area, which also include the redevelopment of Glencairn House and the Connecting Dumbarton project.
Councillor David McBride, Convener of Infrastructure, Regeneration and Economic Development, said the ambitious project aims to improve the look and feel at the heart of Dumbarton. He noted that the demolition work already completed at the Artizan Centre has "paved the way for these improvement works."
Councillor Lawrence O'Neill, Vice Convener, added that the work will have a "noticeable and positive impact on the town centre" and is expected to transform the central area and increase footfall to local businesses.
Michael Scanlan, Director at Clark Contracts, stated: "We're proud to be undertaking the refurbishment of the Artizan Centre and to be collaborating again with West Dunbartonshire Council."
