Sanctuary Scotland has announced a start date of March 2026 for a new £14 million affordable housing development in Braehead, Renfrewshire.
The project will create a vibrant new community, providing 57 new social homes in an area facing acute housing need.
The development, located on the 4.5-acre Row Avenue site, will feature a mix of two and three-bedroom homes and one and two-bedroom apartments. The construction is estimated to be complete by Autumn 2027. The scheme is strategically designed to accommodate a variety of tenants, including families, elderly residents, and key workers, given its location just over a mile from the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
The project has attracted £2m of government funding to date, supporting the provision of much-needed social homes as the Scottish Government addresses a national housing emergency.
The new homes will focus heavily on sustainability and energy efficiency, featuring a net zero heating source. This design choice ensures that new residents will benefit from low fuel bills while contributing to reduced household carbon emissions.
Peter Martin, Sanctuary Group Managing Director, Asset Strategy and Development, confirmed the readiness of the project: "With the Scottish Government having declared a national housing emergency, we're now ready to deliver 57 new homes to suit people with varying needs and circumstances."
Sanctuary Scotland's construction team will oversee the entire project, and the firm is committed to employing local sub-contractors to support the build, providing a welcome boost to the local construction industry.
