Five-star housebuilder Cruden Homes has submitted a planning application to South Ayrshire Council for a new housing development overlooking Ayr Racecourse.
This project represents the company's first foray into building homes for sale in Ayrshire.
Designed by Yeoman McAllister Architects, the proposed development will transform overgrown brownfield land to the east of the Racecourse, near Craigie Road, into a new neighbourhood of 42 high-quality homes. The plans include a mix of private and affordable terraced, semi-detached, and detached family homes.
Andrew Duncan, Land Director of Cruden Homes, commented: "With a strong track record of delivering high-quality, sustainable new homes across the central belt, it's fantastic to extend our presence into South Ayrshire."
The development places a strong emphasis on sustainability, placemaking, and connectivity. All homes are designed to align with current building regulations and net-zero ambitions, as they will be equipped with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points and zero-emission Air Source Heat Pumps.
The site's design promotes active travel and adheres to 20-minute neighbourhood principles. It features new pedestrian links and natural open spaces, offering easy walking access to local amenities such as Craigie Park, Craigie Skatepark, and various sporting and community facilities.
The surrounding environment will be enhanced through new tree and hedge planting, while mature trees and an historic stone boundary wall will be retained to preserve the area's character.
The planning application follows a pre-application consultation process with the Council, with feedback helping to shape the final proposals. Pending detailed planning consent, which is anticipated early next year, Cruden Homes expects to commence work on site in 2026.
