Warmworks has announced the successful completion of four significant renewable heat projects in partnership with Scottish housing associations, leading to warmer homes and lower energy bills for tenants.
The projects, delivered with Langstane Housing Association, Waverley Housing, West of Scotland Housing Association, and Wheatley Homes South, focused on installing energy efficiency improvements to increase the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) and Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) ratings of the properties.
Warmworks managed the installation of various measures, including: Air source heat pumps; high heat retention heaters; solar panels and battery storage technology.
The completion of the work resulted in positive outcomes across all partners. Properties saw substantial improvements, with EPC ratings jumping from bands D and F to A and B. SAP ratings increased by over 20 points, with one property recording a "remarkable" rise of 57 points.
Paul McGhee, Warmworks' Managing Director, Local Delivery Division, highlighted the success, stating: “The results of these Net Zero Heat projects are nothing short of transformative. To see a property going from SAP bands C, D, or F to an A or B is remarkable and clearly shows the positive impact installing energy efficiency improvements in properties can have – providing warmer homes and lower bills for people and families.”
Philip Pironi, Repairs, Investment and Compliance Officer at Wheatley Homes South, described Warmworks as a "trusted partner," adding that they had "full confidence in this project from the outset." Kevin Boyle, Senior Asset Officer at West of Scotland Housing Association, echoed the sentiment, praising the "outstanding" quality of work delivered, which has resulted in "warmer, more sustainable homes."
Warmworks has been the Managing Agent of the Scottish Government's national fuel poverty scheme, Warmer Homes Scotland, since 2015.
