Muir Timber Systems has successfully completed the supply of timber kits for a development of 49 new social homes in Leuchars, Fife. The project marks the continuation of a longstanding working relationship between Muir Timber Systems and Campion Homes, the lead contractor for the Kingdom Housing Association development.
The timber kits supplied by Muir Timber Systems include the timber frame kit itself, along with cassettes and roof trusses for the development. The new homes in Leuchars are designed to be highly energy efficient and will utilise net zero emission heating systems. The timber kits used in their construction are made from sustainable materials and were cut and manufactured at Muir Timber Systems' Inverkeithing factory using power generated from the factory's rooftop solar array.
The development comprises a mix of home types, including semi-detached homes, semi-detached amenity bungalows, cottage flats, and a detached wheelchair-accessible bungalow.
Muir Timber Systems, part of the family-run Muir Group, was established in 1975 and initially supplied timber solutions to its sister companies, Muir Construction and Muir Homes. It now provides timber solutions for a variety of contractors and house builders across Scotland from its Inverkeithing facility.
Gary Gray, General Manager of Muir Timber Systems, said: "At Muir Timber Systems we try to make it as easy as possible for our clients to create homes and communities that improve peoples’ lives and will stand the test of time. We have a long standing relationship with Campion Homes, supporting them in delivering high quality social housing for their clients throughout East Central Scotland."
Gray added, "Having recently visited the development, I am proud of the work our teams have done in building this new community. I look forward to seeing the finished product in due course and seeing families enjoying their new homes."
