Barratt and David Wilson Homes is significantly expanding its presence in the Scottish Highlands, acquiring three new sites with a capacity for 838 homes. This expansion aims to address the growing demand for housing in the desirable region and stimulate local economic growth.
The new developments include:
• Delnies, Nairn: A coastal development featuring a variety of home styles, including 75 affordable homes to support Highland Council's Strategic Housing Investment Plan. Works have commenced, including the construction of a new roundabout off the A96. The site is strategically located to support the Inverness & Cromarty Firth Green Freeport, expected to create over 10,000 jobs.
• Ness Side, Inverness: Following the sell-out success of Ness Castle, a nearby site has been acquired for 138 homes. A planning application is expected to be submitted in late summer. The site offers proximity to the River Ness and easy access to Inverness city centre.
• Milton of Leys, Inverness: Pending approval, this site will deliver 400 homes, including affordable housing, with panoramic views of the city. Located just three miles from the city centre, it offers a blend of city and outdoor living.
The expansion follows the successful sell-out of previous sites, including Ness Castle, Culloden West, and Mains of Culduthel, demonstrating the strong demand for new homes in the region.
David Palmer, Managing Director for Barratt and David Wilson Homes North Scotland, said: "Our plans for further expansion in Inverness will help to meet the demand for high-quality, affordable homes in the area. Previously ranked as the happiest place to live in Scotland, Inverness boasts easy access to breath-taking glens, lochs, mountains and beaches."
He also emphasized the economic benefits of the expansion: "As we move into a new phase of activity, this is an exciting time for the region. Employment in the area will benefit and we'll begin to see the investment opportunities that our upcoming developments in Inverness and Nairn will bring."
The new developments are expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy and housing availability, catering to a range of homebuyers.
