Wheatley Homes Glasgow, the city's largest social landlord, has unveiled ambitious plans to invest £156 million in improving homes and neighbourhoods across Glasgow over the next three years.
The investment programme, running until 2028, aims to make homes warmer, drier, and more energy-efficient, directly addressing feedback from tenants who prioritised upgrades to existing properties and measures to combat rising fuel costs.
Key elements of the £156m spending include the installation of approximately 2450 new windows and 620 replacement front and back doors to enhance warmth and security. Additionally, nearly 1100 new electric heating systems and 2300 new boilers will be fitted, alongside over 2090 brand new kitchens.
A significant portion of the funding, £53 million, is specifically allocated for environmental improvements within communities, focusing on enhancing local standards and creating cleaner, greener neighbourhoods.
Aisling Mylrea, Managing Director at Wheatley Homes Glasgow, stated: "Wheatley Homes Glasgow is absolutely committed to making homes warmer, safer and more comfortable for households across the city."
She added: "These ambitious plans have been driven by the views of our tenants who want to see more money spent on improving our existing properties as well as on building more homes. This £156m investment is about ensuring our homes and communities remain great places to live and forms part of our extensive programme of improvements to our customers' homes and neighbourhoods over the coming years."
Wheatley Homes Glasgow is part of the Wheatley Group, which manages over 93,700 homes across the country and was recognised last year as the UK's largest builder of social housing over the preceding decade.
