Local businesses are being encouraged to attend a free "Meet the Buyer" event in Dundee on March 4th at the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP). The event will provide an opportunity to connect with buyers from public sector organizations across Tayside and learn about upcoming contract opportunities.
Public bodies purchase a wide range of goods and services, including personal care, building works, transport, and catering. This event will allow businesses to discuss upcoming contracts informally and learn about the tendering process.
"This event aims to help local businesses to be ready to bid for work from councils, health boards, universities and other public bodies when it comes up," said Councillor Steven Rome, convener of Dundee City Council’s Fair Work, Economic Growth and Infrastructure committee. "Buyers will be there to meet potential suppliers to chat about upcoming contracts, how they go about tendering and what they look for when buying goods and services for their organisations.”
The event is organized by Dundee City Council in partnership with Perth & Kinross Council, Angus Council, and the Supplier Development Programme (SDP).
Attendees will have the chance to meet with representatives from various public sector organizations, including Dundee City Council, Abertay University, Angus Council, Dundee and Angus College, NHS Tayside, and others. Confirmed contractors include Robertsons Tayside, McLaughlin & Harvey, MVV Environment Baldovie Ltd, and Balfour Beatty.
"Meet the Buyer Tayside is a fantastic opportunity to network with the real buyers that design and advertise local public sector contracts and supply chain opportunities," said Gillian Cameron, Programme Manager of the Supplier Development Programme. "The Supplier Development Programme works hand in hand with local authorities to create free events like Meet the Buyer Tayside, which help local businesses find, win and keep public sector contracts."
The event will also feature speakers and workshops covering topics such as Quick Quotes, Community Wealth Building, and using Public Contracts Scotland (PCS) and Public Contracts Scotland Tender (PCS-T).
The event takes place on Tuesday, March 4th, from 10 am to 2 pm. Registration is available on the SDP website.
