Work is set to resume on a supported housing project in Almondvale Crescent, Livingston, following a period of disruption caused by the insolvency of the main contractor.
The project, being delivered by Hub South East on behalf of West Lothian Council, was paused following the financial administration of Connect Modular. However, council officers have been working closely with Hub South East to find a replacement contractor and minimise delays to the project.
"Hub South East are engaging with alternative contractors and it is hoped a replacement contractor is soon to be appointed to finish the remaining construction elements of the project allowing the project to progress towards completion," a council spokesperson said.
The supported housing element of the development will comprise 28 one-bedroom flats, with 16 of these designed to be flexible for future use as mainstream housing. The project also includes 20 affordable housing units, comprising a mix of two and three-bedroom houses and flats.
This update will be presented in a report to the West Lothian Council Executive. The report also highlights progress on other council housing projects, including new builds at Houston Road, Simpson Parkway in Livingston, and Deanburn in Linlithgow, which are expected to deliver an additional 80 social homes by Summer 2026. Construction is also underway at Winchburgh Grange, where 16 new two-bedroom flats are scheduled for completion in Summer 2025.
The council is investing significantly in improving its existing housing stock to meet energy efficiency standards and increase the availability of social housing for West Lothian residents.
