New East Lothian Housing Developments Approved

The East Lothian Planning Committee has approved a number of major planning applications. Key decisions included the approval of 103 new houses and eight flats in Elphinstone, while a proposal to convert a building near Kilspindie Golf Course into a holiday let was refused. The Committee also approved a dog walking facility in Tranent with conditions and supported the extension of the Crystal Rig wind farm with appropriate environmental safeguards.

The Planning Committee's decisions included:

• Housing Development Approved: Plans for 103 houses and eight flats in Elphinstone were approved, albeit with conditions to address flooding and drainage concerns.

• Dog Walking Facility Approved: Permission was granted for a dog walking facility in Tranent, subject to a one-year review to assess its impact on the local community and road safety.

• Housing Development at Saltcoats Field Approved: Despite concerns about sewage capacity and overdevelopment, the application for 16 houses at Saltcoats Field was approved.

• Alterations to Tranent Development Approved: A minor alteration to a previously approved development in Tranent was permitted.

• Pathways Application Refused: The application for a footpath connecting the Elphinstone site to Waterloo Place was refused due to potential harm to neighbouring properties.

• Holiday Let Refusal: A proposal to convert a building near Kilspindie Golf Course into a holiday let was rejected due to concerns about access and potential impact on the environment.
