First Minister John Swinney, MSP for Perthshire North, praised the progress being made on the construction of the new Perth High School during a visit on Friday, 22 November.
He was joined by Jim Fairlie, MSP for Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, alongside senior Perth and Kinross Councillors, Council officials, and representatives from Robertson Construction and hub East Central Scotland (hubco).
Th project, being delivered by Robertson Construction Tayside on behalf of hubco, is designed to meet Passivhaus standards, ensuring the building is energy-efficient while providing a comfortable and sustainable learning environment.
Set to open in 2025, the three-storey school will accommodate up to 1,600 pupils and 140 staff. It is being built on the current Perth High School site, with the existing structure slated for demolition once the new building is complete. The vacated area will be transformed into a 3G sports pitch and a multi-use games area (MUGA), further enhancing the facilities available to students and the community.
Mr Swinney said: "I was pleased to see first-hand the progress being made on the new Perth High School building, which represents a significant investment in the future of our young people.
"This state-of-the-art facility will provide an outstanding learning environment for pupils and staff while demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and tackling the climate emergency.
"I commend Perth and Kinross Council and all partners involved in this transformative project, which will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact on the community."
