SSEN Transmission, a key player in the UK's energy transition, is set to further expand its workforce and move into a new, sustainable office space in Glasgow. The company's commitment to net zero and the increasing demand for green energy workers has led to significant growth, with the number of employees quintupling in just five years.
As part of this expansion, SSEN Transmission will lease multiple floors in the Aurora Building, Glasgow's most sustainable office. The building's impressive environmental credentials, including a Net Zero Carbon certification and 100% renewable energy power, align perfectly with the company's sustainability goals.
The move to Glasgow will enable SSEN Transmission to tap into a skilled workforce in the central belt, further accelerating its efforts to deliver a network fit for a net zero future. The company plans to fill 500 new roles this financial year, offering flexible working options across its offices in Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow, and Perth.
David Tate, Director of Property and FM at SSE, said: "SSE continues to invest billions into the net zero transition, and to support this expansion we've decided to enter into this lease at Aurora which is conveniently located, and only a few minutes' walk from our existing office at One Waterloo Street.
"Now that the lease has been agreed, work is progressing on developing a detailed project plan to ensure the new building fully meets the needs of those moving to it, and colleagues are expected to move in towards the end of 2025."
