SGN has announced 18 new recruitments this month which include apprentices and engineering graduates.
The recruitment is part of the company's programme which is partnered with Fife College and will bring SGN's number of apprentices in learning up to 40.
Michael Gillies, Emerging Talent Manager, said: "We're delighted to be joined by our new apprentices and graduates as they take their first steps in their careers with us. They've hit the ground running and it’s thanks to the help and support from departments across SGN – it’s been fantastic to see everyone embracing the opportunity to be involved in developing our emerging talent."
Included in the new additions are 12 new First Call Operative apprentices, who will learn how to respond to reports of gas escapes and carbon monoxide and take action to safeguard life and property over the next three years.
They will also learn how to install and replace gas meters, and install, test and commission internal gas pipework.
Six Engineering Graduates have also joined on a rotational placement plan where, for the first 18 months of their programme, they will spend up to three months in a variety of functions across the company, gaining knowledge and experience of the wider engineering business, before settling into a final placement for the remaining six months of the programme.
In their first week, they were welcomed by SGN's Emerging Talent Team along with Jim Small (Head of Scotland Operations), Louis Quinn (Head of Asset Management) and Health & Safety team Gary McEachran and Cherie McDonald.
The recruits also spent time at Edinburgh training centre, completing their health and safety critical training.
