Kingdom Housing Association's Annual Site Tour Returns

Kingdom Housing Association has welcomed a wide range of invited guests to it's annual site tour, following a two year hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic.

The Association greeted Board members, tenants, management, staff, stakeholders and partners at their headquarters in Glenrothes before embarking on a day of touring sites across Fife and Perth.

The site tour began in Glenrothes on the site of the former Tullis Russell paper mill, where 85 new affordable homes for social rent are being developed as part of a larger mixed-use development expected to include a total of 850 homes, care facility, and retail and commercial units. The homes are being built to Silver Sustainability Standard and will benefit from low carbon heating supplied by the Glenrothes Heat Network which takes steam generated as a by-product from the local Markinch biomass plant which uses recycled timber to generate power.

Earlsgate, Scone, was the next stop where a new mid market rent co-housing development for over 55’s has been completed. The project features 51 new age-exclusive homes and takes a new approach to resident-led living with tenants using some of their time to support their neighbours and help manage the co-housing community.

The day ended with a visit to the latest phase of the development at Bertha Park, on the outskirts of Perth, followed by a tour of Kingdom’s Perth & Kinross office and some of the recently transferred housing stock in Fairfield.

Linda Leslie, Chair of Kingdom Housing Association welcomed all of the guests upon arrival and said after the tour: "After a two year break, it is great to be able to resume the annual site tour. Not only does it give Board members the opportunity to see the range, quality, and scale of homes we provide, but it also allows us to meet the staff and other partners we work with and gives us an opportunity to get to know them better. In turn, that helps us deliver on our objectives and our mission of providing more than a home."
