Cube Glass Precision Work At Ibrox New Blue Sky Lounge

Construction News Image
Scottish glass and aluminium specialist Cube Glass has further increased its presence in the lucrative stadium market with a contract for the stunning glass feature attractions in the new state-of-the-art Blue Sky Lounge at Ibrox Stadium in Glasgow.

The new multi-purpose lounge at the home of Rangers Football Club will boast panoramic views of the pitch action and will serve more than 330 guests each match day. It will operate as a new restaurant and is destined to become the leading football hospitality offering in Scotland.

Cube Glass, working in partnership with construction and fit-out expert Morris & Spottiswood, is installing a full-length screen at the rear of the Sandy Jardine Stand with access doors to the new lounge for patrons.

In a project worth £120,000, the Scottish precision manufacturer will use Metal Technology System 10-35 Hi to create a light, airy environment in which guests can enjoy pre-and post-match hospitality. It will be completed by October.

Gary Thorn, Cube Glass founder and Managing Director, said: “It is an honour to have been asked to participate in this new Rangers initiative, which will show the way to other stadia in terms of what can be done to create a unique experience for fans and guests.

“Our involvement in the Blue Sky Lounge follows the completion of the Cube Glass Sponsors' Lounge just before the start of last season, a small, bespoke venue above the Main Stand which hosts 24 club sponsors.

“And, in 2019, we were called on to install three fire-rated screens and new double doors at the £14 million The Rangers Training Centre at Auchenhowie in the North of Glasgow. We are very pleased to have been able to further develop this close relationship with the club."

James Bisgrove, Rangers' Commercial and Marketing Director, said: "The Blue Sky Lounge is another flagship development at Ibrox as part of our 150th-anniversary celebrations. Alongside New Edmiston House and the new Club Museum, the board is committed to continually modernising and enhancing the Ibrox match day experience."

Cube Glass's Blue Sky deal is the latest in an accelerating growth spurt at the Cumbernauld-based company, which has seen it enter into a strategic partnership with high-end French design and engineering specialist Bel'M, as an addition to its prestigious existing supplier relationships with industry-recognised specialists such as Senior Architectural Systems, Metal Technology and Schüco.

It comes on top of the successful completion of a £600,000 investment in a new factory – double the size of Cube Glass's old premises – and the imminent opening of a sophisticated new showroom which will highlight the company's expanded range.

Cube Glass, which was established in 2004, focuses on curtain walling, doors, windows, glass roofing systems and shop fronts as well as bullet, bomb and blast resistant glass. It supplies sectors including education, health, industrial, social care, commercial property and residential homes.

The firm employs 14 full time staff and two apprentices and is actively recruiting to sustain growth.
