CECA Scotland have recognised five of the most talented young people employed by Scotland's civil engineering contractors at their annual Most Promising Awards.
The prestigious annual event brought together almost 650 guests representing all sections of the civil engineering community in Scotland.
The ceremony, at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow, was presented by stand up comedian and author Dominic Holland.
This year's award winners were:
• Owen Wilson, BAM Nuttall – Most Promising Apprentice
• Tom McCleneghan, Morrison Construction – Most Promising Trainee Technician
• Nisha Sanghera, McLaughlin & Harvey – Most Promising Trainee Quantity Surveyor
• Declan Laing, Luddon Construction – Most Promising New Entrant Civil Engineer
• Scott McCaw, George Leslie – Most Promising New Entrant Civil Engineer
The judging panel received a record number of entries this year and took the decision to make two awards in the ‘New Entrant Civil Engineer' category in recognition of the exceptional quality of nominations.
As well as celebrating new talent in our industry, the guests helped to raise over £10,000 for CECA Scotland's longstanding charity partners, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation.
Grahame Barn, Chief Executive of CECA Scotland said: "This year's cohort of Most Promising award winners are a very impressive group of young men and women who demonstrate exactly the kind of talent that our industry must nurture if we are to deliver the infrastructure revolution that Scotland so badly needs. Together, I hope that their achievements will encourage more young people to follow in their footsteps and explore the many opportunities available for rewarding and exciting careers in civil engineering.
"The CECA Scotland Most Promising awards are going from strength to strength, reflecting the huge amount of talent in our industry, and we are delighted that so many of our member companies have embraced this opportunity to recognise and celebrate the successes of the brightest and best young people within Scotland's civil engineering contractors.
"I am also delighted that our guests also helped raise over £10,000 for our charity partners, My Name'5 Doddie Foundation. We have been proud to support their work over many years to fund research towards a world free of MND."
