After being named Scotland's Energy Efficiency Council of the year, North Lanarkshire Council's Energy Efficiency Team have now been named second top council in the United Kingdom in the national finals.
The council was commended for the impact they've had across their communities tackling fuel poverty; one of the key issues that set the team apart. Their work in rolling out innovative and exciting projects, including installing insulation to reduce heating bills for tenants and residents while reducing their carbon footprint and boosting the local economy by supporting locally based suppliers and providing jobs for local people, was also recognised.
Convener of Communities and Housing, Councillor Heather Brannan-McVey, said: "I'm delighted that our energy efficiency team and the council's programme of measures to tackle fuel poverty and promote energy efficiency, have been recognised at this national level.
"We're working hard to improve the lives of our residents by providing warm and comfortable homes while positively impacting on the local environment.
"Well done to everyone involved in delivering this accolade. We'll continue to roll out our ambitious plans to make North Lanarkshire the place to Live, Learn, Work, Invest and Visit."
Procast, one of the council's partners involved in delivering these projects, nominated the team for the national award following their Scottish Success.
Procast also picked up first prize and was named UK winner for fabric and insulation installer and used North Lanarkshire Council's project as an example as part of our nomination.
