Six community projects are set to be launched in Peterhead following votes from local community groups and organisations.
The winning schemes are now set to receive funding as part of the town's Community Choices project. They include the following:
• Peterhead Civic Pride will receive £3,000 to develop Landale Gardens to provide a sensory garden with a seating area, plant shrubs and provide more seating and raised beds
• Peterhead Men's Shed will receive £500 to build bespoke planters for areas of the town adopted by Peterhead Civic Pride
• A total of £10,000 will be spent on the installation of a traffic island on West Road to aid pedestrian crossing at Strawberry Bank
• The Royal British Legion Scotland (Peterhead Branch) will receive £2,000 to add additional seating and planters for the Commonwealth Memorial Site
• £1,000 will be spent on planting bulbs and wildflowers beside Peterhead Library to attract bees and butterflies
• A further £3,000 will be spent on planting of new bulbs and wildflowers along the path of the River Ugie towards the main town to improve the pathway.
The Community Choices process was overseen by a partnership between Aberdeenshire Council and Peterhead Community Council, encouraging local people to come together to decide how public money should be spent in their communities.
Planning will now take place for implementation of the projects and updates will be provided as they are ready to progress.
