Plans have been revealed for the £5.4 million second phase of a development project in Irvine, North Ayrshire.
The first phase of Quarry Road is scheduled to be complete in May.
With work nearly finished on 10,000 sq ft of offices to accommodate KA Leisure, the Council's Business Development team and flexible and collaborative working space for small businesses, the final specification for the second phase of the scheme has now been revealed.
Plans include incorporating top-class sporting facilities including a full size 3G outdoor pitch for football and rugby, nine-a-side 3G indoor pitch to allow all weather training and coaching for football and rugby and a 750-metre cycle track which will include a 250-metre internal loop.
However, proposals to deliver three outdoor hard surface tennis courts depend on the sale of the existing courts at Thornhouse Avenue and a funding contribution from Tennis Scotland.
Last month, a public consultation event was held in Irvine Library to help inform the submission of a planning application in mid-May. If approved, permission will be granted to allow work to start on-site in September.
A further funding application has also been submitted to SportScotland to help finance the second phase of development.
Cllr Alex Gallagher said: "One of the Council's key priorities is to grow our economy, increase employment and regenerate towns.
"We're delighted the first phase is nearing completion and discussions for phase two are underway.
"The project would represent excellent sporting outcomes, offering young people the opportunity into sport, and we hope that SportScotland will provide a funding contribution to reflect both this and the scale of the Council's investment in sport."
