Orkney Islands Council (OIC) are inviting residents to attend a meeting to discuss plans over establishing a large scale wind farm development in the region.
Last year, it was revealed the local authority was exploring potential options for generating new income, with investment in renewables being one, to help overcome the financial challenges the council and wider Orkney community may face over the coming years.
The wind farm development would serve as a source of income, as well as community benefit for the county.
Residents in Hoy and Walls are now being invited to attend a public meeting at North Walls school from 7pm on Monday, 30 April.
OIC Leader and Local Councillor, James Stockan, said: "We have a significant announcement to make about the next phase of the project.
"I look forward to providing further details on the night and hope that as many people as possible from the local community come along to talk with us about this.
"Although this is an important milestone for the project, I would like to stress that a final decision has not been taken about whether to go ahead with a wind farm development – a lot more work needs to be undertaken before we reach that stage."
