The £48.5 million Wick Community Campus has been nominated for an industry accolade at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence 2018.

The facility, which was built by Morrison Construction, will compete in the category for Excellence in Planning for a Successful Economy against eight other finalists from across the UK.

Designed by Ryder Architecture, the Campus opened in April 2017 to replace Wick High School, South Primary and Pultneytown Academy Primary School while providing a new library and swimming pool for pupils, teachers and the wider community.

Previously, it has been nominated for a major award before winning Gold in the 'Best Education Project' category at the 2015 Partnerships Awards.

Morrison Construction, Managing Director of Building Highlands, Donald Mclachlan, said: "We are delighted that Wick Community Campus is in the running for this prestigious award.

"Our teams work extremely hard to deliver facilities of a high-standard that benefit the communities they are built in now and into the future."

The winner will be announced during a ceremony at Milton Court Concert Hall on 24 May.
