Work is to start later this year on a bridge strengthening project in the Scottish Borders.
The scheme on the Lowood Bridge will get underway during late summer/autumn 2017.
An inspection of the 250-year-old Grade B listed structure last year revealed some deterioration which requires the repair and strengthening works.
The works are part of a number of major bridge repairs taking place in 2017/18. The £2 million programme includes Clackmae Bridge near Earlston, Bowanhill Bridge near Teviothead and Bowden Church Bridge.
An additional £385,000 will also be spent to complete the Lowood Bridge repairs.
A 26-tonne weight limit will be imposed on the Lowood Bridge from Monday, 20 March.
A council spokesperson said: "The removal of the heaviest vehicles from Lowood Bridge is a precaution, with the bridge safe to use for remaining traffic.
"Once the repairs are completed, the intention is to remove the weight restriction.
"The increased investment in bridge repairs across the Borders will ensure these vital structures which link up our road network can be used for years to come."
