Work to repair a storm damaged waste water pipe in Hawick is now complete.
The £1.2 million project was carried out by Morrison Construction on behalf of Scottish Water at Duke Street/Noble Place.
The pipe was damaged on the side of the river Teviot when a section of the river bank broke away during widespread flooding in the town.
Works have involved replacing the section of the damaged sewer with a larger pipe which allows sewerage networks to cope with an increased volume of waste water, protecting the infrastructure now and for the future, helping alleviate flooding during periods of heavy rain and storms.
Bill Elliott, Scottish Water Regional Communities Manager for Hawick said: "We would like to thank the community for their patience and understanding as we worked to complete this very complex project. This £1.2 million project replaced the damaged section of sewer which crosses the River Teviot at Mansfield Road and Duke Street/ Glebe Street Mill in Hawick.
"This much larger 900 mm diameter pipe is equipped to cope with more volume of water during any severe weather issues."
