Aberdeen City Council has approved plans for a major £1.5 million refurbishment project at a historic museum.
Funding for the scheme at Provost Skene's House on Flourmill Lane will be allocated from the City Centre Masterplan budget.
The building is currently closed to allow developers Muse to build the Marischal Square office complex. Following the refurbishment project, both building's are scheduled to open in July 2017.
The scheme will include spending £1m on designing and fitting out a new interpretation centre at the museum, which will include digital interactive and audio features alongside more traditional museum displays. A further £500,000 will go towards carrying out essential building works.
Cllr Willie Young said: "This £1.5m investment from the Council will help preserve Provost Skene's House and its magnificent interior for generations to come, while creating an even bigger draw for residents and visitors.
"The exhibition has the potential to become a tremendous education resource and would service a number of Masterplan objectives, not least positioning Aberdeen as a city of global significance and influence."
