Balfour Beatty has secured a £35 million contract to deliver the first phase of roads infrastructure project in Perth and Kinross.
The Perth Transport Futures Project is to begin in September and will help reduce congestion, increase accessibility to Perth and provide £500m in local economic growth.
Balfour Beatty will deliver the first of four project phases, which includes creating a new grade separated junction on the A9 dual carriageway. In addition, a new link road will be developed to enable access to development land to the west of the city. Around 100 people will be employed on the scheme which will provide a number of apprenticeship opportunities.
The contract was awarded under the Scape Group's National Civil Engineering and Infrastructure Framework.
Hector Macaulay, Balfour Beatty Regional Managing Director, Scotland, said: "We are really pleased to have been awarded this key contract and to be a part of the exciting development plans in Perth & Kinross. We have a vast wealth of experience in delivering significant highway infrastructure schemes across Scotland including locally on the A9, A90 and the M90."
The project is scheduled to be completed in Spring 2019.
