Angus Council has agreed a modified draft of its Local Development Plan (ALDP).
The document provides a framework for the future growth/opportunities within the region's towns, villages and rural areas over the next 10 years.
The local authorities decision concludes the preparation of the ALDP and features modifications put forward by Scottish Government Reports over unresolved objections in the proposed blueprint.
Features of the ADLP include identifying land for housing to support the development of around 330 new homes each year.
Suitable sites include Arbroath, Carnoustie, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose, which were supported by the Reporters, along with sites at Edzell, Letham and Newtyle.
While the document has a requirement for 25% of all new developments over 10 units to be provided as 'affordable', around 117 hectares of new employment land is identified to provide increased flexibility to respond to emerging demands.
In addition, the ADLP set outs the future approach for town centres, high quality design, renewables, built and cultural heritage and the protection of natural heritage.
The Plan is now set to go before Scottish Ministers for formal adoption.
