West Dunbartonshire Council has agreed to invest £114 million in council housing improvements throughout the region.
However, to fund the programme, a 4% rents increase will be implemented.
This will allow the local authority to carry out 170 kitchen replacements and install 120 new bathrooms, as well as replacing and modernising over 300 heating systems.
In addition, 800 houses will have their windows and doors renewed, 300 roof's will be repalced and insulated render will be provided for 250 properties.
Overall, £3.4m will be invested in delivering energy efficiencies, £600,000 on heating improvement works and a further £300,000 on special needs adaptations.
The upgrade initiative will ensure all homes meet the national Scottish Housing Quality Standard.
Councillor David McBride said: "We are committed to constantly improving local housing by investing in our stock to ensure it meets the needs and expectations of our residents. Last year we celebrated 9,400 of our homes meeting the Scottish Housing Quality Standard after an investment of £81 million to carry out extensive improvement works.
"To continue deliver this quality for our tenants another rent increase is required. We carried out extensive consultation with tenants and worked together to minimise the rent increase and still provide the quality of service that tenants deserve."
