A suggested Local Development Plan template for the Caithness and Sutherland (CaSPlan) areas in the Highlands have been unveiled by the council.
The proposals set out the council's view on how and where the two areas should grow in the future over the next 20 years.
The Plan focuses on growth in larger settlements, with organic growth of smaller settlements to help strengthen communities and support sustainable rural growth.
The proposals were drawn up via feedback gathered from previous consultations with residents.
In addition, the Highland Community Planning Partnership have endorsed the plan and will monitor its delivery in partnership with the council.
Councillor Audrey Sinclair, said: "The Council and its Community Planning partners have agreed this Proposed Plan as the framework for growth in this important part of the Highlands."
Residents are now being asked to 'have their say' on the CaSPlan's proposals.
An eight week consultation will begin from today, 25 January until 18 March 2016.
Councillor Sinclair added: "I urge anyone with an interest in the future of the area to look at the Plan and tell us what they think through the online consultation."
