Exhibition For A9 Dualling Programme To Be Held

An exhibition is to be held allowing the public to see and comment on initial design work for the A9 Dualling programme.

The event in Pitlochry will put on show material for the A9 Pitlochry to Killiecrankie project.

This is the latest in a series of exhibitions taking place across Perthshire which have covered over 24 of the 80 miles of the programme.

So far, over 300 people have attended the events which have showcased material for the Tay Crossing to Ballinluig, Killiecrankie to Pitagowan, Pitagowan to Glen Garry and Glen Garry to Dalwhinnie projects.

Derek Mackay, Minister for Transport & Islands, said: "The A9 Dualling Programme is the largest transport investment in Scotland’s history with around 80 miles of upgraded dualled road, and I’m delighted the next phase of design work is ready to see.

"The preparation work is moving on apace and locals and road users can see our early design plans which give more detailed analysis of route and junction options for the Pitlochry to Killiecrankie project which, together with the four dualling projects Tay Crossing to Ballinluig, Killiecrankie to Pitagowan, Pitagowan to Glen Garry, and Glen Garry to Dalwhinnie covers over a third of the overall programme.

"We are pressing ahead to make the A9 safer, and in addition to the shorter term measures we are taking, we recognise the need to get construction under way as soon as possible to dual those sections of remaining single carriageway.

"The first of this construction work is expected to start this summer between Kincraig and Dalraddy, and when complete will be a welcome improvement for users of the A9."

The exhibition will take place on 15, 16, 29 and 30 July at Pitlochry Town Hall.
