Scottish Borders Council along with the Selkirk Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme have invited property owners, developers and professionals to attend a free event.
The event is to be held at Victoria Halls in Selkirk on Tuesday 21st April 2015, involving leading experts talking on subjects including working with traditional buildings, alternative uses for empty homes, creative marketing of empty properties and empty homes funding. There will also be information stands available for attendees providing information addressing issues such as empty properties in town centres.
Colin Seymour, a Selkirk Conservation Area Regeneration (CARS) project officer said: “In common with many areas across Scotland, the Scottish Borders has its share of empty commercial and residential properties in town centres. This free event is a fantastic opportunity for property owners and relevant professionals from across the area to get information and advice on the many opportunities there are with empty properties.”
Selkirk CARS is a partnership project, developed alongside community-based Selkirk CARS Steering Group.
Historic Scotland successfully funded the project in January 2013, with the aim that the project runs until March 2018.
Over a 5 year period, Selkirk CARS will be focused on a range of heritage and conservation-based regeneration activities occurring within the town centre. The projects overall budget is just over £1 million, funded both by Historic Scotland (£795,000) and Scottish Borders Council (£215,000).
The event will run from 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
