Scottish Water has announced it is to offer a number of students paid work placements later this year.
The Summer Internships programme at Scottish Water will provide undergraduates with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a range of disciplines such as construction management, engineering, science and technology.
The summer internships last for a period of 12 weeks, and are open to penultimate year students on track to achieve a 2:1 degree in a related discipline.
The 2015 programme will offer students placements in Engineering, in asset strategy and flood strategy; Construction Management in managed delivery and cost intelligence; Business Analyst in business improvement, intelligence control centre and technology, innovation & business change; Data Science – asset information; Hydraulic Modelling – asset information; and Chemist – scientific sciences.
The closing date for applications is 22 February 2015.
The placements will commence in June.
Commenting on the scheme, Shirley Campbell, Director of People and Organisational Development at Scottish Water, said: "The Internship Programme offers an excellent opportunity for penultimate year students to gain valuable hands-on experience working in one of the largest water companies in the UK."
Ms Campbell continued: "It forms part of our commitment to developing talent in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths) subjects.
"Interns will undertake a real job within a team of highly-skilled professionals; who will encourage them to apply their studies and challenge themselves to develop practical skills relevant to their future career and get most out of this experience."
