Enforcement action has been issued to the owners of a hotel in the Highlands.
On Wednesday (11 February), a Dangerous Building Enforcement Notice was issued to the owners of the Eastgate Hostel in Inverness.
The building was destroyed by a fire in April 2013 and has lain empty ever since. It is understood the owners were discussing what they could do to repair the structure, but following a recent structural survey by the Highland Council's Building Standards Team, it was discovered that the building is unsafe. In a statement, the council said the structure has deteriorated, leaving its integrity compromised due to the length of time it has been left abandoned.
As a result, the enforcement action was taken to speed up work on the building to ensure its safety.
