Progress is continuing to be made on a new housing development in Scotstoun, Glasgow.
A total of 116 homes are being constructed on the site of two former tower blocks which were demolished last year.
The properties, as well as improvements being carried out to the four remaining blocks at Kingsway Court, will help to transform the area.
The development comprises of 102 flats and 14 houses, with seven of the flats designed to wheelchair standard. Glasgow Housing Association (GHA) is behind the £10.5m project, which is expected to be completed in April 2016.
McTaggart is the appointed contractor for the scheme, and as part of its contract with GHA, will also provide training and employment opportunities for local people along with supporting community projects and businesses.
In addition to the new homes, some £12m is being invested to significantly upgrade the four remaining tower blocks on the site. Work at 30, 40, 50 and 60 Kingsway Court includes installing overcladding and glass balconies; while new kitchens, windows, bathrooms and central heating have been installed and foyers and landings were upgraded. The installation of new roofs was also carried out, plus a new 24-hour concierge station and CCTV.
Visiting the site, Bailie Liz Cameron, Executive Member for Jobs and the Economy at Glasgow City Council, said: "The development of these new houses and flats at Kingsway Court is great news for the area, bringing high-quality new homes and jobs for local people. I am delighted that the existing homes beside those currently being built have already been refurbished, and I look forward to seeing the whole project being completed."
Gordon Sloan, GHA Chair, added: "It's exciting to see these new homes take shape and I know they will be a real boost to the Scotstoun area. These modern, stylish homes are also energy-efficient and will help cut tenants' fuel bills."
Gary Climson, Managing Director of McTaggart Construction, commented: "We are delighted to be delivering this prestigious project on behalf of GHA. The local community will begin to see the development taking shape on site over the next few months and can look forward to moving into their new homes."
