Construction work is set to begin at Glasgow Women's Library (GWL), it has been announced.
Work will commence next week (Monday 24 November), with an anticipated completion date given of May 2015. The £1m project will see the building at Landressey Street in Bridgeton, refurbished.
The GWL moved to its new premises in November 2013, taking over the former Bridgeton Public Library. In order to renovate the building, Clyde Gateway has assisted GWL with funding the necessary works. This includes a "significant" internal refurbishment which will create a new venue space and dedicated archive, new learning zones, exhibition spaces, museum showcases and a small café. External structural works will also be carried out, such as installing a new lift.
The library will remain open throughout the duration of the works.
