A project worth more than £10m is to be carried out by Scottish Water in Yoker and Clydebank, it has been announced.
The scheme will see major improvements made to the waste water infrastructure, which in turn, will help improve the water quality and natural environment of the River Clyde as well as tackle flooding issues in the area.
Work on the first project, valued at £850,000, will commence on 19 November and will see a new Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) with powered screens constructed in the car park at Greenlaw Court.
When completed, it will ensure that the waste water is screened before it is spilled into the River Clyde in stormy conditions, for example.
Further improvements to the waste water infrastructure in Yoker and Clydebank are expected to start in spring 2015.
George Leslie is the appointed contractor for the scheme, while Scottish Water has said details of the other infrastructure projects will be confirmed in due course.
Mark Maclaren, Scottish Water's regional communites team manager, said: "Scottish Water's investment in improvements to our infrastructure in the Greenlaw Road area and other parts of Yoker and Clydebank will deliver major environmental benefits for years to come.
"We know that local people and road-users will appreciate that any short-term inconvenience will be far out-weighed by the long-term benefits to the environment these projects will deliver."
